A Price Comparison Between the iPod and iPhone

For some the price of purchasing a new iPhone can be quite daunting, it might be more sensible to instead buy an iPod touch which has many similar features. It’s worth first looking at what you get when you buy each device, the iPod comes in four different forms; touch, nano, classic and shuffle. Each of which has a primary role in providing you with a portable music library with easy access. If you have a vast music collection, which by definition is in excess of 64gb and require it everywhere you go then you really only have one choice which is the iPod classic. This has a starting price of $249 and have proven to be Apple‘s longest running and most reliable one to date. The iPhone does just not have the storage requirements you need so it will not be a viable option.

The next two iPods are the Shuffle and the Nano, both of which are considerably cheaper than the iPhone, the Shuffle being $49 and the Nano being $149. These are used by people on the go a lot and require a lightweight music source. The best comparison is between the iPod touch and the iPhone. Essentially the iPod touch 8gb can perform a lot of the tasks an iPhone can but it has a starting price of $229 for the 8GB model, as opposed to $699 for the 16gb iPhone. What does this extra 8GB enable you to, well 8GB of storage gives you and extra 2000 songs but that is about it. However with the iPhone you do get a top of the range phone that has the use of GPS and navigation as well as email on the go and the ability to run a small army with the number of mobile applications. Very useful seeing as if you buy a iPod touch you will also need a very good phone in order to do everything you can on the iPhone, which will not be a cheaper option in the slightest. If you are an avid music lover who also loves to travel then you even more of a reason to buy an iPhone as you can download music from anywhere in the world. The iPhone is great value in the sense it can give you all your needs in one device.
